5 Ways To Save Money On Your Wedding Car While Still Getting A Luxury Ride
As a young couple ourselves, we know you’re looking to save money on your wedding costs so that you have more for that dream honeymoon, new home, renovation, newborn (perhaps?) and all the other stuff that comes with married life.
We understand!
As such, here are some ways you can reduce your wedding car expenditure from us, the wedding car company themselves (who better to give you tips than us, right? :P )
1. Avoiding the early surcharge
Some cars have an early surcharge (which is applied if the booking starts before 7am, or ends after midnight). The pricing for the surcharge depends on the model of car, but typically ranges from $70 - $90.
As such, try to book your wedding car service from 7am onwards (and for Indian weddings - try to end before midnight) to save the $70/$90 - you can bring your partner out for a nice meal with that!
2. Plan your itinerary properly
Planning your itinerary properly means knowing when you need the wedding car. Often times, we get couples asking us how long they should book the car for (short answer - we don’t know!), because every couple has their own plans for their big day.
As such, knowing when you need the car works to your advantage as you can then book the car only for that duration. E.g - booking the car service up to 12pm only, because you no longer need it afterwards since you are having a lunch banquet (you can have your photoshoots with the car before that)
Planning your itinerary well also means you plan for any delays, and book the appropriate amount of time for the car.
We’ve done hundreds of weddings events since 2018 - so here are 2 small tips :
1. There are always going to be delays during wedding events - so buffer extra time for that.
2. Try your best not to extend your booking time on the actual wedding day.
There are 2 reasons why we say this :
A. It’s more expensive to extend on the actual day as compared to booking the timing in advance.
B. It’s subject to availability - sometimes, the car that you booked has another event to prepare for after yours (such as a car wash, wedding decor installation - as we wash our cars before every event to make sure it’s clean and presentable).
We sometimes do not have enough buffer between your event and the next (to be fair to the next customer) - so sometimes we cannot afford to take on any booking extensions.
3. Book your wedding car early!
“How early should I book the car?”
This is another question we get asked a lot. The answer is simple - ASAP! Typically, 1 to 3 months before your big day is good.
For a very simple reason - booking your wedding car early means there are more cars available on your wedding date (especially if your wedding is on a popular date, many cars would’ve been booked by then).
Booking a car early also gives you and your partner more time to decide which car to get.
Booking early also means you tick one item/vendor off your wedding checklist and can focus on other important stuff.
4. Book a bigger car
Some bigger families book 2 to 3 cars for a wedding. For bigger families, our tip is to book a Toyota Alphard/Vellfire.
This is because the car is HUGE and can fit more people inside. Booking fewer cars also means you save more money, plus our Alphards/Vellfire wedding cars are priced really affordably!

5. Chauffeured vs self drive
Some couples may want to self drive a car on their big day. But this usually means a much higher cost, because first of all petrol, parking, etc. are NOT included in the rental price for self drives.
So add another $100- $200 on top of the wedding car rental price for this.
On the other hand, for chauffeured cars - petrol, parking, the driver, ERP etc. are all included in the price.
Next, for self drive, you have to book the car for a minimum of 24 hours/48 hours (depending on the car) whereas for chauffeured you can book for just 3 or 4 hours. From there, it’s easy to see why self drive can be more expensive, but that’s not all.
Next - for self drive, you have to collect the car yourself, and return it back to us afterwards. This is extra time and effort that you would not have to worry about if you opt for a chauffeur driven car.
Lastly, for self drive options - there’s always the risk of you getting the car damaged (touch wood), which means extra costs for you.
At the end of the day - whether to self drive or get a driver is your call, but we believe that the newly married couple should be as comfortable as possible on their wedding day - after all it is your special day!
