8 things to do on layover in Changi Airport
If you happen to have a layover in Singapore, you should definitely celebrate! This is because unlike other airports which can be dull or boring, Singapore’s Changi Airport has been named the best airport in the world for a 7th straight year!
This is partly due to the incredible range of attractions and things to do while in the airport itself, that can make your 12 hour layover fly past really quickly. Without further ado, lets check out some of the things you can do while on layover at Changi Airport :
1. Visit the butterfly garden
The butterfly garden is located at levels 2 and 3 of Terminal 3, and is free for all passengers. It is home to over 1,000 butterflies from 40 species and you can even witness the breeding and feeding of the butterflies at close range.
2. Get a free massage
Did you know you can get a free massage at the airport? When you walk down the corridors to the departure gates at each terminal, you will notice there are huge comfy OSIM massage chairs located along the corridors. Usually, such massage chairs are pay per use, but these ones are free !
3. Watch a movie
At terminals 2 and 3, you can check out the cinema and catch a movie if you have time to spare. How cool is that? Not many airports can claim to have a free cinema to entertain their guests. While the variety of movies may not be that extensive, it is still free nonetheless and a good way to pass the time.
4. Go for a swim
While this is not free (it costs 17 SGD), you can go for a swim if you fancy at the rooftop of Terminal 1, called the Aerotel Airport Transit Hotel. The price includes the swimming pool, jacuzzi, towels and hot showers.
5. Go Shopping !
With over 350 retailers in T1, T2,T3, T4 and Jewel, there are enough stores for you to occupy hours of your time. With retailers like Adidas, Calvin Klein, Cotton On, Fred Perry, Foot Locker and even luxury retailers like Burberry, Braun Büffel and Coach, we are sure that something there will get your attention (and wallet!)
6. Play video games
At the entertainment deck at T2, you can play Xbox Kinect, Arcade Machines, Playstations and even computer games. For gamers, this is one super easy way to make the time fly pass. Just make sure you don’t miss your flight!
7. Eat !
There are simply too many food options available at Changi Airport. From western food, to Japanese sushi, to Italian, fast food and Asian cuisines, there is something to cater to everyone’s taste buds. If you are unsure of which to visit, a safe choice would be the Singapore food street at Terminal 3 Transit area. It brings all the local delights of Singapore into one place for your convenience.
8. Take a nap
After exploring what Changi has to offer, definitely you’ll feel tired from walking and exploring. So now would be the perfect time to visit the snooze lounge located at the upper levels of T1, T2 and T3. Far away from the busyness of the airport, you can find lounge style chairs that are comfortable for you to take a nap and recharge. For a more comfortable experience, you can also book a room at Jewel for about $80 for 4 hours.
With that, you can see that there are many things to do in Changi Airport while awaiting your next flight. There are of course more things here that we didn’t mention, but if we were on a layover, these would be the top 8 things we would probably do :)
